Beth, I LOVE your pictures!!! The pictures of Sadieville school are near and dear to my heart :) My Mom attended and graduated from this school... Thank you so much for sharing!! Marylou
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Marylou! My hope is to photograph and share some of these special Kentucky places before they change any more than they already have. I can just imagine Sadieville School when your mom was there--so full of life and learning. It must have been a wonderful little school.
DeleteThats so great, I remember that place. I was there the last year, when they transfered all the students to Northern. I remember when Golden Hall (like the ONLY black boy at the school) kicked a football through that window, and I remember that giant metal slide. Fell off it and knocked the wind out of me :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Amy! So glad you enjoyed the photos of Sadieville School! My husband and I both taught at Scott County High School. Were you a student there?
DeleteI can still tell you each teacher's room from the outside and in and where the office, the teacher's lounge, and everything else that was in the place when it was running. It was the birthplace of the imagination of a young girl that never grew out of daydreaming. ♥ Sadieville School.
ReplyDeleteMandi, I would love to go inside the old school to look around and take photos. AND I would love to have you with me to tell me stories about what it was like when you were a student there! Thanks for visiting the blog!
DeleteIf you haven't done so, you can get in the school in the back, you have to go through a fence and broken door if I remember correctly(it's been a few years). I don't know about the legality of it though. My friends and I used to explore there all the time, it's really interesting seeing all of the old equipment, books, and toys they use to use.
DeleteI saw your other comment saying you taught at SCHS. I think you were teaching when I was in school, from 06-10.
Thanks for posting the pictures. My Dad went to school at Sadieville as well as my sisters. I attended Sadieville Elementary for 6 years and can remember the classroom and where I was sitting when we learned that President Kennedy had been shot. Lots of great memories - thanks for the reminders!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome, Becky! Thanks for visiting the blog and adding your comment. I love to hear stories about the places I photograph, and from all I've heard, Sadieville School must have been a very special place.
