Searching for Spring at the Arboretum

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, Lexington, Fayette County

The gardens at the Arboretum are still mostly in their winter state, but they are still full of beauty.

The winter shapes and shadows here are lovely, but the wisteria growing over this gazebo
will soon be full of gorgeous, fragrant purple blooms.
Sculpture throughout the Arboretum is pretty any time of year.

Warmer weather needs to arrive before the fountains and other water features can be turned on.

Last year's hydrangeas have taken on a pretty vintage patina.

Evergreens and hardscape always offer interest.

I saw the first hint of spring as soon as I opened my car door in the parking lot.

Ready for a new batch of babies

This tree was the only one I saw that was in bloom.
These are the beautiful yellow blooms on the tree above.
